Rockford Farm Market Closes for Season

We currently have about 10k ever bearing strawberries planted. Our blackberries and raspberries are available this season.

The main crop on our farm is heirloom peppers and tomatoes, including cherokee purple, chocolate stripes, hillbilly, ananas noire, san marzano, and others. Our goal is to provide the sweetest and best produce grown sustainably and chemical-free. We will be offering chard and kale along with pole beans and cucumbers this season.

Sweet peas

We planted sugar snap peas today. First thing in the ground

Dropped off my seeds and the list to the greenhouse today. Winter is hanging on but spring gets closer

They're coming

Seeds started showing up. I spoke with the greenhouse today. We are going to try and plant tomatoes in April. More to come

We are ordering seeds for the coming year. Hope I choose wisely. Here we grow again

Sick machine

We bought our case international dx55 tractor new in 2006. We had a horrible salesman named Scott at Sparta farm &lawn. He never explained break in with our tractor. Now at 1400 hours the motor needs a rebuild. This shouldn't happen. Beware a bad salesman

We pulled the string and stakes from the dead tomato plants. Now I mow the plants to lift the plastic

Tomato plants are subtropical. They don't do frost. We got frosted last night. The 2013 growing season is coming to an end.

The end

It was an amazing day of picking in October. Peppers and tomatoes

We are taking the wheels off our 1956 international 100 tractor to get the chloride removed. Chloride was added to tractor tires to add weight for traction. It is very corrosive and eats the steel rims. They use beet juice nowadays

It's suppose to rain for the next 5 days. A killing frost on Sunday. Tomatoes are coming to an end

Got almost all the winter squash and pumpkins picked and ready for sale

Picked all our apples today. My 2 favorites tallman sweets and spygolds and goldens and Ida reds. Hope they sell well at market

I bought a sleep # bed. My back pain seems to be subsiding. Best investment ever. A good nights sleep is a farmers best friend

My winter squash never took off. Cold snap in July

It's been so warm we are lucky it's not snowing. All this rain will split a lot of our tomatoes. This maybe our last week of sales. Most of our winter squash were killed off in July's cold weather
